01. What did you do in 2009 that you'd never done before?
Ran a Language Arts lesson to 8th graders all by myself. :D Oh and also, crashing my car. Whoops.

02. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I wanted to read 50 books this year, but I only got up to 40, I blame work and breaking an arm, lol. Next year I want to try to stop biting my nails/cuticles so I can get manis with my sister for her wedding. I also want to learn to play the ukulele. :D

03. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Yeah! A friend's sister had a baby boy a week ago.

04. Did anyone close to you die?
My hamster, Pepper, died a few weeks ago. RIP ham ham. :(

05. What countries did you visit?
None, lol.

06. What would you like to have in 2010 that you lacked in 2009?
The use of both my arms, LOL. XDD

07. What date from 2009 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
May 27th- saw Coldplay live at SPAC. Hands down the best show I've ever been to, they came out onto the lawn for an acoustic set and OMG we were 5 feet from them! :DD

08. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Erm...probably finishing that long-ass Batman fic, because it was very hard to make the time to write, and I think it's my longest fic to date that I've actually finished, so that's something.

09. What was your biggest failure?
Breaking my arm. XDD

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
See above, lol. Also I've been sick since like Halloween so YOU TELL ME. XD

11. What was the best thing you bought?
Probably tv shows on dvd. I went nuts with those this year, lol.

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
My sister, for not being a bridezilla. :P

My new boss, lol.

Concert tickets and books.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
I saw a lot of bands that I love this year (Coldplay, and the Killers being the most squee worthy), and of course HARRY POTTER OMGZ.

Company of Thieves- "Oscar Wilde." I discovered them from by this song on EQX this year, and saw them live twice! It was definitely a COT filled year. :D

Sicker. This is probably my worst winter health-wise since high school. :(

Writing. I have so many ideas and not enough time to write them all!

Work. I want to sit home in my sweats all day. XD

With my family (my brother, sister in law, and nephew were here from New Jersey) and with the boy.

THERE WERE SO MANY GOOD ONES. Ok, Harry Potter of course. Also Coraline, District 9 and Avatar.

I turned 23, my mom made me pink cupcakes and a big dinner, the family and the boy gave me gifties, then I went to bed mad early because I was sick.

Not being laid off from my job at the middle school.

Real quicky-like, because I am siiiick and need to go to bed. Check out this article I found about the new Sherlock Holmes movie entitled "New Sherlock Holmes Film to Portray Homoerotic Relationship Between Lead Characters."

Speaking of Christmas specials, I know some people were Disappoint about Dethmas, but I've watched it twice in two days and find it hilarious. The boy even said that it might be his favorite episode of Metalocalypse! I just...every time they showed another member of Dethklok in a hideous Christmas sweater I lost it. XDD

So we're getting our first big snowstorm of the winter tomorrow morning. The worst part is not that it's smack in the middle of morning rush hour, but that the snow will turn into freezing rain. If only I still worked at the school, it's guaranteed to be a 2-hour delay! Dern!

M'kay, I'm off to watch the new Scrubs. I've decided to keep watching, even though it's just not the same. But I will prob not buy it on dvd, because I like the finale actually being The Finale. Does anyone care? Whatevs. :P

Edit: It makes me so sad that Better Off Ted is now a better show than the new Scrubs. I def laughed more, and the guy that plays Ted is kinda dreamy. At least I'll have something to good to watch on Tuesdays until V and LOST come back.

Also, speaking of new Scrubs does it piss anyone else off that they replaced the Janitor with two VERY UNFUNNY security guards?? I think I may be retracting my previous statement about watching this season all the way through...once JD leaves, I don't know if I can stand it. And that makes me sad. The end.

So I am planning a MASSIVE HP post, in which I dissect the teaser trailer with ideas and predictions and screencaps. I have no idea when I will have time to do this BUT IT WILL HAPPEN. Maybe this weekend. OH, ALSO HAPPENING THIS WEEKEND, check out this vid and DanRad will explain it to you. :DD

At first I was so bummed because I didn't think I knew anyone who has a BluRay player, but my friend Leighann's sister's boyfriend (who lives with them) has a PS3, and I told her about it (she's also an HP fan) and she said I could come over to watch it!! OMG SERIOUSLY I WILL BE WATCHING HBP WITH DANRAD!! I will have to rent a BluRay copy, I might even have to reserve it this week at Hollywood Video. It's happening at noon, if anyone else out there has access to a BluRay player. I have to think long and hard about what question to ask him! I really have no idea at the moment, I need to brainstorm! If you guys have any questions for him or David Yates, leave them in a comment this week and I'l write them down and bring them. SO EXCITEDDDDD!!! :DDDD

Anywho, in other fangirly news (not HP related for once) I'm going to see Company of Thieves again on Wednesday, at Rev Hall in Troy! SO PSYCHED, MAN. I managed to poke a hole in the Sexy Bassist's guitar pick with a safety pin, and Colleen is going to make me a necklace to wear! I told the boy I was turning the pick into a necklace, and he likened me to Mel on Flight of the Conchords LOL. XDD Yeah I guess it's pretty accurate. I still have to pick out a supercute outfit to wear (the boy said he'd buy me a COT t-shirt at the show for my birthday, but I dunno if I'm gonna put it on or not). We're going mad early so I can get in the front, DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF SEXY BASSIST. I wonder if he will recognize me??? XDDD I am beyond excited. I wonder if we can finagle some way to meet the band? I really want autographs! I wish I had time off to take from work (I'm still on 90-day probation), because I'm going to be out all night stalking the band. They will be joining the list of bands that I've seen more than once. The list also includes Bon Jovi (4 times), Eve 6 (twice), Goo Goo Dolls (twice), Dave Matthews Band (twice), and OAR (twice). Wow, I need to see some other bands, because that's about every show I've ever been to, right there. XDD

I know this not because the weather man told me so, but because my wrist hurts tonight. Yes, my arm has healed with the miraculous power to be sore before and during precipitation, so the break wasn't all that bad in hindsight. XDD

Anywho, those of you in the Albany area, I will be selling jewelry for my sister at the Albany Institute of History and Art (that cute little museum with the mummies!). She's double booked tomorrow, so while she's at the Farmer's Market I'm manning her booth in Albany. Come buy some Christmas gifts from her!

FML, tv edition

I thoroughly apologize for not updating in a millions billions years. I've been getting over being sick, and have been busy Christmas shopping and such. I promise a Real Post soon. XD

I dunno how many of you watched the premiere of Scrubs tonight, but I was very underwhelmed. It does not feel the same at all, and while it still made me laugh, I am not feeling it. I think once JD leaves in a few episodes it's going to fall apart. But I like some of the new characters (and returning characters like Jo), and the girl who's replacing JD as the narrator is actually very good and funny and cute. I was surprised how much I liked her, so that's a good thing.

What I'm pissed about, in a nutshell:

* Elliot and Carla not being on the show
* Elliot and JD getting married and pregnant in between seasons, so we get to see none of it. Also, Elliot was only in about 5 seconds, and I dunno if she's even in the rest of the season, so why get me all excited about her being preggo if we're not going to see any of that happen??
* new, flat characters we're supposed to care about (the only new people I think are worth my time are Lucy and Drew)
* new fancy sets, new theme (the hospital was rebuilt on a medschool campus and they're all teachers now...it's weird)
* THE JANITOR. IS NOT THERE. I am blindly holding out hope that he's going to surprise-attack us and appear out of nowhere, but he's not listed in the cast on imdb.com, so my hopes will probably be crushed.

Long story short, it's ok. I still lol'd, I'm still gonna watch it, but it feels like a totally different show to me. As a huge fan of this show since the beginning, I am officially Not Pleased. The End.

Going to bed now. Here's some cute music to cheer us up.

The Scrubs version was of course sung by Ted, and I can't find a copy of it anywhere that doesn't have dialogue, so this is the next best thing. I dunno who this dude with the weird name is, but I like it. :DD

So I've decided that Wednesday is too long to wait for Metalocalypse, so I will now watch it Monday night after Heroes. Basically, Nathan Explosion + Nathan Petrelli = One Badass Monday Night. XDD I must say, I am loving the half hour episodes of Metalocalypse! It doesn't even feel longer, which means they're doing it right! :P Also, last night's Heroes was prob the best episode of the season so far, and increased my love for Samuel by a millions billions. Damn, that man is sexy. I am a sucker for Irishmen. ;D

V starts in about 5 minutes, so I must make this quick. Also, I've been sick since Saturday/Sunday-ish, and I just want to chill on the couch with a cup of tea. But yes, anyway, you should watch V for 2 reasons, which I will list below:

it's about aliens, which is awesome
Elizabeth Mitchell is in it, and she is awesome

First order of business: I am avoiding the f-list for the next few days because IF SOMEONE SPOILS METALOCALYPSE I WILL CUT A BITCH. I HAVE NOT WATCHED IT YET, IT IS ON THE BOY'S DVR, WILL BE WATCHING IT SOMETIME THIS WEEK. Actually I will probably watch them all a few days late, because I am too lame to watch shows on Sunday night (I always miss Venture Bros too, Sunday night is stupid), and Heroes is on Mondays, and V is on Tuesdays, so it looks like WEDNESDAYS SHALL NOW BE METAL-DAYS. That sucks, but such is life. I'm not particularly active in those comms anyway, and I think only like 2 of you actually on my f-list watch it. XDD Whateva.

In other news, tonight's Heroes was too awesome for words. Actually, it was too awesome that I have TOO many words, and not enough time with which to write them, lol. And I'm feeling sick tonight and want to go to bedsies. Will prob spaz about it tomorrow. For tonight I will say this: AT LONG LAST, THERE WAS A PETRELLI EMBRACE. THIS IS WHAT THIS SEASON HAS BEEN MISSING. HELLLLLZ YEAH. :DDD

I know this is totes unrelated, but I had this WEIRD-ASS dream last night, and I must tell you before I forget. Cut for people who don't care, lol.

If you're thinking that because that was a Dark Knight reference that it was Joker smut, be sorely disappointed. HOWEVER it was almost as good! It was Halloween, and I was out walking around some neighborhood with some friends (I dunno who, it may very well have been you!), not trick or treating, just running amuck. We come across this house that's all decorated with pirate stuff, all the pirates are skeletons, and it's mad cool. There's even a mast and crow's nest sticking out of the ground! I think "wow, what a great prop!" There's some random people sitting around on this lawn, and sitting a little away from everyone is a very good-looking blonde gentleman. The proceeding dialogue goes something like this:

me: HOLY CRAP IS THAT HEATH LEDGER???
friends: No, you asshole, he's dead, remember? You've been devastated for months!
me: But you guys, he really looks just like Heath Ledger!
friends: So go ask him if he's a zombie or something.
me: No, that would be rude. "Hey, Heath Ledger, aren't you supposed to be dead??" Please.
friends: Just go say something or you'll obsess about it all night and we don't want to hear this shit.
me: OKAY!

So I go up to Heath Ledger and ask if he's really Heath Ledger or some very convincing look-alike. Turns out it's really him! Alive and well! Sexy accent and all! IRL I would swoon and get all gooey and not be able to make complete sentences because of all the blubbering. In Dreamland, I calmly say, "I'm so glad you're ok, but what really happened?" And he proceeds to tell me that he did overdose, but was revived and has been in a coma, and when he woke up was so shocked to find that everyone thought he was dead that he had to get away from it all for a while to collect his thoughts. I say "wow, and you picked upstate New York? Bummer."

So we chat for a while, become very good friends, and he tells me about this lost family treasure that is rightfully his, but was stolen when everyone thought he was dead. That's when the pirate mast and crow's nest that I thought was a cool Halloween decoration turns out to be part of a real ship, which rises out of the ground underneath us and sails away...apparantly a NY suburb has become the ocean. I am so excited to be on a pirate adventure and to have befriended Heath that I leave all my friends behind to help him (yah I totally would guys, sorry).

So along the way I keep having these "flashes" of Heath dying in different ways (like Desmond did on LOST). They are so real and so traumatizing that I tell him about it. At first he thinks I'm just so relieved that he's alive that my subconscious is trying to come to terms with it in the form of freaky dreams. Then my dream-within-a-dream of him being impaled by a broken part of the ship ALMOST COMES TRUE, we realize that maybe he "cheated death" and must now keep trying to escape it. He almost dies several times, and he is always saved last minute because I foresaw it.

Anyway, it turns out the capitan of the ship is who's after Heath's treasure. So the two of us start a mutiny against him, trying to find out who's loyal to Heath. We find out that MUTHA FUCKIN BARBOSSA is on the ship! I guess he was originally the captain and then this other dude took it over.

Somehow a big battle ensues, and Heath is so scared of actually dying that he decides to marry me, so that if he DOES dIe the treasure will be in the right hands. XDDDD I know seriously what is wrong with my braaaaaain? So Barbossa marries us all cool and piratey like Will and Elizabeth (I haven't even seen that movie in forever, wtf), and then just as we kiss the Evil Captain (who did not have a name that I remember) shoots at Heath, and I know it's coming so I shove him out of the way and get shot myself!

THIS IS WHEN I WAKE UP. IS THAT BECAUSE I DIED?? DO ME AND HEATH NOT LIVE HAPPILY EVER AFTER?? DID THE EVIL DUDE GET THE TREASURE?? DOES HEATH DIE TOO?? CURSE YOU, BRAIN.

YEAH. I DUNNO WHERE THESE THINGS COME FROM. GOOD NIGHT SIRS.

XDD I was going to go to the movies tonight with the boy (he wanted to see the new Coen Bros movie, but I was pushing for The Men Who Stare At Goats because, c'mon, George Clooney + Ewan McGregor + Mind Powers = Goooold. I am just imagining the ridiculous slash that will come out of this movie, YOU JUST KNOW THERE WILL BE SLASH WITH A CAST THAT HOT OK). But I digress. When I called him after work, it turned out he was already on his way to Poughkeepsie and then to NY to see a Knicks game at Madison Square Garden with his Hetero Lifemate Jordan. I dunno, Jordan had tickets and someone couldn't go or something, so Pat left work an hour early to go. He is still on the train back to Po-town right now, then has to drive an hour back to Albany. FUN.

But the REAL point of the story is this: THE MOTHER FUCKIN YANKEES WERE THERE. YEAH. JETER AND TEX AND A-ROD AND MELKY AND CC AND OMGGGG WHY DOESN'T THAT SHIT EVER HAPPEN TO ME?? The only celebrity encounter I've ever had was seeing Torrie Wilson and Billy Kidman at Denny's after WWF Raw. XDDD

Anyway, I told him to take pics. A lot of pics. Of Derek Jeter's ass. We shall see how he delivers on that particular request. ;D

So yeah, instead I went over to Leighann's to watch Burn After Reading which gave me my Clooney fix after being denied Men Who Stare At Goats lol. She lives with her pregnant sister, and it took all I had to not grab her belly and put my face on it (yes, I am insane). I did, in fact, do this to their puppy, Wizard, who was the cutest darn thing I've ever seen. They are lucky I didn't stick him in my coat on the way out the door and take him home with me. I'm sure my mom would not mind waking up to find a little black and white fuzzball running around the house. I should've taken some pics of him, but I was too busy being a squealing fool, lol.

And now I'm home, gorging myself on leftover pizza and listening to ridiculous pop music. Life is good. XD Will prob go write fic, I've been wanting to finish up that Joker thing that you probably all forgot about by now, but I was so distracted by baseball, lol. Well, now that the Yankees have won I will not be up until all hours of the night yelling at the tv...instead I will be up until all hours of the night writing fanfic. :P Also, I have discovered a new internet obsession that is somewhat related to the fic, which is so awesome that it deserves it's own post. Maybe tomorrow.

Well. Did that rambling mess make up for not updating in forever?? I hope so.

SERIOUSLY YOU GUYS, DO NOT GO SEE PARANORMAL ACTIVITY UNLESS YOU PLAN TO BE SCARED SHITLESS.

I have never been this scared after seeing a movie. NEVER. I was scared about being alone in my car on the way home! And yeah, I am That Person who is the only one who screams in the movie theater. I CAN'T HELP IT, I WAS FUCKING TERRIFIED.

I will not be able to sleep tonight, for realsies. I must reinforce my Scary Movie Rule: I will only watch them while staying over at the boy's place so he can protect me all night. I made him check my car before I got in it, lol! Then I watched The Office with my mom to take my mind off it because DAMN. SO SCARY.

Think my parents will mind if I keep all the lights on when I go to bed tonight??

I love baseball so much that you could call it a fandom, lol. And Postseason baseball is the besssssst! Seriously, every playoff game this season has been a friggin NAILBITER. I love that feeling! Only baseball can give it to me (ha). I don't like any other sports enough to watch them or follow teams, but I love the Yankees enough that it just doesn't matter. :DD

I'm not even too phased that we lost last night (we had a helluva streak going, and we can't win EVERY postseason game, I know this), I am still just as psyched about tonight's game. Except for the fact that it doesn't start until 7:30, and every game has gone into extra innings and omggg it is so exciting but I get soo tired when I stay up til 1 am to watch the game and then have to work the next day. XDD

In other baseball news, this season has given me an omgenormousfuckingcrush on Mark Teixeira. For those of you not in the know, he is our new first baseman, and he has been ON FIRE. Not just with the batting (postseason homerun whuuut) but he's so awesome to watch in the field! HE IS JUST SO DAMN GOOD. And adorable too! I love new crushes, lol, so have some vids.

For non-fans, a preface to the next vid: AJ Burnett, one of our pitchers, does this thing where when you make the game-winning play or hit or whatever, he will ambush you with a pie-in-the-face. They have a fridge full of whipped cream in the dugout, LOL. It is so cute and funny, because he usually gets them while they're being interviewed and the shit just goes everywherrrrre, and we get a close-up view of the craziness. This vid is from a fan in the stands, so it is farther away and kind of shaky, lol. This just happened on the 10th, btw. He hit a homerun to win the fuckin game in extra innings. I always think of good or funny things to post about while I'm at work or driving the half-hour commute to and/or from work, but when I get home I always either forget them or am too tired or busy to actually post. XDD Yes, I am lame. I mean, I haven't even posted about Jim and Pam's wedding yet! And it was pretty much my favorite episode of The Office ever, not to mention hilarious and adorable. I've already watched it twice, and I got all smiley and sappy all over again. Will be watching it at least once more, since the boy has finally caught up from last season and only has the wedding to watch before tomorrow's new episode! I don't want to spoil anyone who hasn't seen it or doesn't watch The Office but may want to watch it someday. If you want to chat about it in comments, I am totes game. :DDD

Also, Dexter has been amazing this season! Watched episodes 1 and 2, but not the new one yet, so if you know anything, keep it to yo'selfs! Oh, and 30 Rock comes back this week! I've missed my weekly dose of Tina Fey.

Anywho, I must get to bed soon, because I am lame and have to go to bed early now or I won't wake up in the morning. No amount of free fancy coffee at work can keep me awake, lol. Ok, the pumpkin spice and the french vanilla pretty much do the trick. :P

I don't usually blog about politics and such. At the risk of sounding moronic, I am usually bored and confused by politics. Nowadays I've formed my own opinions on certain issues, but overall, it's not really my thing. I'm pretty liberal, and I'm a registered democrat. I know what I believe in, what I think is right and wrong. But politics in general tend to confuse me because there's so much bickering and sensationalistic journalism that make everything sound like someone's opinion rather than fact. Also, I can never keep anyone's names or faces straight, so I never know who it is I'm mad at. XD The boy is really into it, and he can usually clear things up for me when I get confused. He's actually very knowledgable, and we support all the same things.

Onto today's topic of discussion:

So I am driving home from Albany after dropping off the boy at his usual Sunday Football sports bar. On the corner of Central Ave and Wolf Rd, I am sitting at the red light in the right lane. Directly outside my car is a group of older people (there was no one there without gray hair) with signs protesting abortion. As far as protests go, this was fairly calm: no chanting, no marching, only two signs to choose from (their lack of originality just made my roll my eyes), and many of them were sitting in lawn chairs holding their signs. Ah, old people.

So since there's all these cars at the red light, one of them yells: "honk if you love Jesus!" No one honks (lol). I had been listening to EQX on the radio quite loudly at the time, in an attempt to ignore them, but at this I turned down my music and yelled "PRO CHOICE!" out my window. Here are some choice phrases that were yelled back at me:

"Abortion is murder!"
"God hates baby killers!"
~~"What if Jesus was aborted?"~~
"LESBIAN WHORE!"

Ok, granted, I do have very short hair that some people associate with dykes. But really? REALLY? How does one make the leap from "oh, she's pro-choice" to "she must be a lesbian"?? I was so angry, they should thank god the light turned green.

Now, I am all for our right to free speech. Hell, I wouldn't be able to write slash without it! But protesting one issue does NOT give you the right to blatanly insult those who disagree with you! As far as I'm concerned, they are more than intitled to believe and support whatever the hell they want to. But there is really no need to be so RUDE.

And their protest doesn't even make sense! I've never understood how god comes into the argument against abortion. Read the Bible, people, we have free choice for a reason! Do you really think that god would put that tree there with a giant neon arrow pointing to it and not expect us to eat the damn apple?? But I digress. There is evidence everywhere that abortion should be up to the parents. How many teen girls are unprepared to be mothers, but don't get an abortion? How effed up is that baby's life going to be?? And look at Sarah Palin's daughter (Bristol, LOL) who got pregnant as a teen, decided to keep the baby, and then her boyfriend split! Now she's stuck raising this baby on her own because she was brought up to think that abortion is a sin.

And, you know what, I happen to love babies. I am baby crazy. But if I got pregnant right now? I abort. Not because me and Pat aren't married, but because neither of us are ready to be parents. We have no money, we both still live at home, neither of us has the career we want for our lives...a baby would ruin everything and just be a burden. And to be completely honest, I'm one of those girls who can't wait to get pregnant and have a baby! But the situation and time have to be right, or no one is going to be happy.

Anyway, to the Central Ave Protestors: if being pro-choice makes me a lesbian whore who hates god and is going to hell, than so be it. People cannot be bullied or insulted into agreeing with you. You certainly have the right to believe that, and to make signs and sit in lawn chairs on a major road. But if you call me names, insult me, or act like I'm less of a human being for my beliefs? You better get some rain coats, because I'm filling up my super-soakers with urine, getting some liberal friends, and Drive-By Peeing your asses.

I've been a bit stressed lately about ~*The Future*~ and such. I don't wanna be an adult, man! Grad school is a constant source of distress, and I'm not even accepted anywhere yet. At least I have a good job to get me through until I start and then for those 2 years. I've had so much on my mind this week (plus my first week at work being very busy and crazy) that my cuticles and nails look so disgusting. I need to stop that habit, for reals.

Ok, time for a Heroes post. I keep forgetting that it's on at 8 now, so I thought it woud be 10 when it was over and I wouldn't have time to spazz about it, lol. Lucky for you guys, I can't tell time. XD

Ok, I am kind of loving this season. Not because it's especially compelling or mysterious, but because it's HILARIOUS. I don't know how all these extras (Matt's "NA" group, the other detective, the drug dealer...) can keep a straight face while filming these scenes with Zachary Quinto. He is making me laugh so hard that I miss the thread of the plot. XDD Harrassing Matt during the NA meeting (which is funny in itself, Matt being "addicted" to his power and calling it "using" lawl) was priceless, and then this episode he's doing funny voices and making stuffed bunnies talk and saying he always thought he'd be a great cop?? SRSLY SYLAR, STOP BEING SO FUNNY. XDDD This really makes me want to see ZQ cast in a comedy, because he is so great at it. I mean, he's had some amazing one-liners as Sylar before that have made me chuckle, but now he's KILLING me. Pun not intended. XDD

Ok ok, anywho, besides ZQ...I shall discuss in list format, I think it might be quicker.

* HRG: I like that he's totally out of his element now without a wife and family. Poor guy burns his frozen pizza in a toaster oven and eats cereal for dinner! And I'd still do him. :P I find it interesting that Angela is depending on him to get Nathan and the Company in line, and HRG is all "whateva bitch, leave me to my cereal. Besides I gotta go try to make Claire hate me again CYA." It's cool that he has the Haitain on speed-dial in case Claire fucks up, which she always does. But letting her handle it on her own was not a smart idea, man. Which brings me to Claire.

* Claire: Let me first say that Heroes's version of college is just as LOL as its version of high school. XDD Dorm rooms are just not that big, ok? Me and my college roomie were tripping over each other between two beds, two desks, and two dressers in an itty bitty room. Claire has enough room to teach a yoga class for about 20 people in there! I guess I shoulda gone where ever she went. XD Anyway, I knew Claire was going to cave and tell Gretchen all about her power. Because that is what Claire does. Despite seeing every season what being reckless with powers leads to, she continues to do it. In an attempt to "be herself" or some shit. Girl, that doesn't mean tell the first girl you meet your every secret! Gretchen is going to turn on her in a few episodes, I guarantee it. Hell, she's probably part of the Carny Family, planted in college with Normal People to peer pressure Claire into dropping out of school and joining the circus. I'm sorry, the Carnival. As a side note, her short hair is very cute, I approve.

* Carnies: I am digging Samuel big time. He is pimpin, in snazzy suits AND dirty shit. The man is just nice to look at. I'm not too sure what his motives are, besides bringing "the family" together and replacing people who die (lol, real nice). But I like where it is going. We know next to nothing about him and I really felt for him tonight when that Uppity Bitch wouldn't let him into his old house. Also, I'm curious as to how his powers work. Is he telekinetic? I thought he could only control dirt, but then he did cool shit with the ink and I'm confused. Maybe it's some kind of organic ink made of mud? lol, I dunno. I had thought that Lydia The Tattooed Lady controlled the ink...I'm not sure what her power is now. If HE controls the ink, why is SHE the one who knows who's going to show up as a tattoo? It's mad cool, I want to know more. I like how these Carnies do business. They have a problem, they send DARTH FREAKIN MAUL. BTW how funny is it that this show had to cast a guy like Ray Park to have a decent fight scene?? The high-speed knife fight between him and Peter last episode was AWESOME. Also I like how his speed looks different from Daphne's last season. She only looked fast when she was running, and all of Darth's movements were a blur! It's pretty sweet. An Idea: why was the compass so important to get back? Based on how it spun for Peter but not HRG, maybe it detects Supers? Interesting.

* Peter: I love how HRG told Peter how bad it is to live alone and all that, when their lifestyles are identical, right down to the same mustard in their fridge. XDD But really, the Spiderman life looks good on Peter. I really like him this season, and I haven't really been feelin' his character since season 1. Being a paramedic is very cute, BTW. And how he's so obsessed with saving everyone? This all feels very "Peter" to me. I wonder how Samuel is going to try to lead him to the Carnies? I love how he gave him a matching spinning compass tattoo, lol. Awesome. BTW, what powers does Peter have this season? I haven't bought s3 on dvd yet, and I forget how he ended the season. It seems like he can only have one at a time now...but I thought he had to touch someone to get it? I don't think he touched Darth Maul when he got the speed. Maybe his old power of just soaking it up is back...but he can still only have one? I dunnoooo. On a side note: Milo's acting is not so atrocious this time around! He seems very natural to me. Maybe they are letting him ad-lib a little more or something. For example, when HRG asked if he had Darth's power and he went "I got it, I got it" and when the compass spun in his hand and he went "Oh, hello!" I dunno, I just like how he's delivering lines this season. Let's keep it up Milo.

* Deaf Girl: I didn't catch her name, but maybe they said it? I definitely like her. I love how she's kind of embracing her power, even if she doesn't understand it. The scene with the cello was very beautiful and well done. The sound-light effects are really nice to watch. Peter suspects that she's deaf, I think, and that something is up. I hope that doesn't lead to a romance, because I really like her and sex with Peter has a 100% mortality rate. Just stay away, girl.

* Tracy: Speaking of romance, I am all for Tracy hooking up with HRG. I like that he's still hung up on Mrs. HRG (I'm blanking on her name right now, lol) because usually on this show, once a relationship is over you forget all about them, lol. It makes him very real, also Jack Coleman is an amazing actor and pulls the unhappiness and guilt off really well. I kinda liked Tracy killing people, actually. I don't want her to go back to her old life of Boring Politics. She should join the Company as HRG's partner, "one of us one of them". Although I very much miss Jessica and her ruthlessness and unpredictability, Tracy is much more interesting than Nikki. And she can't be killed now, apparently, which is awesome.

* Hiro: Why do they tell us that he has a terminal illness and not say WHAT it is?? Is it caused by his power? Is it something he always had?? Can Dr. Suresh cure it??? These are the things you should be asking, Hiro, not "how can I fix stupid little things in the past without changing anything in the future?" I am Not Pleased. Maybe he and Ando will have more Excellent Adventures through time, which I would love to see. And Samuel will be back to recruit him into the Carnies. I'm interested to see how it plays out, but if Hiro is dead by the end of the season, I might just stop watching...ok, I probably won't, but I'll be very pissed. :(((

* Nathan/Sylar: Let's call him "Nylar." Sounds like a ship, lol. Oh Adrian Pasdar, you are amazing. He's a very good confused Nathan. I was waiting for him to try to fly and realize he can't (Sylar didn't take his power, as far as I know, he just killed him), but the unconscious telekinesis and bursts of Elle-lightening are just as good. Next week's episode looks promising, with him remembering memories that aren't his...I'm hoping for some cool Sylar flashbacks we've never seen before!

* Matt: This is where the meat of the season is right now. Poor Matt! Why is he hallucinating? Sylar seems to really BE in his head! Making him see a dead girl and a ransom note? That shit's no joke. Will Matt "fix" Nylar back to Nathan like Angela asked, or will he release Sylar to get him out of his head?? Hopefully the latter, because then ZQ will be back For Realsies. Sylar, in any form, remains the most interesting thing about the show. Not just because he's hot...although that doesn't hurt. XD

* Mohinder: ...where are you, Mo? I miss you! I thought it was going to be him who rescued HRG from the car last episode! I am sad. I get that with this many characters, they can't all be in every episode. S1 pulled this off brilliantly. But it's been 2 (technically 3) episodes now, and no sign of Mo. I actually forget what happened to him at the end of last season, LOL. I need to at least watch the finale again, because I am confused, lol.

HOLY CRAP that was long. I obviously must ramble about Heroes once a week so that my entries aren't enormous. XDD

I need to go make my lunch for tomorrow and go to bed. I miss sleeping in until noon.

I had another crazy dream last night! I dunno what's been going on lately that's making me remember them so clearly! I guess I remember my dreams more than most people, but usually I have the craziest ones when I'm on some kind of hardcore medication, lol. For example, when I was doped up on pain killers the week I broke my arm, I had some SERIOUSLY messed up dreams. The boy has also been having crazy and vivid dreams since he started Chantix to quit smoking, and he says he never usually remembers dreams. Maybe I'm just weird, I guess. XDD

I'm sure you remember my gushing post about Sexy Bassist from Company of Thieves...well he has apparently joined the ranks of the other celebrities that I fantasize about in my sleep. That is quite an honor for him, I'm sure he is thrilled.

Anywho, in said dream, I was in some kind of auditorium (which looked like the auditorium from the summer camp I worked at this summer, only bigger) seeing a Company of Thieves show. And afterwards I was sitting on the stage talking to Sexy Bassist and apparently we were friends (and I had a huge crush on him, but he didn't know). We were hanging out while the band packed up, and he tells me that they're doing another show tomorrow and need a small string section. To which I proclaimed "I PLAY THE VIOLIN" even though I haven't played in years (true in RL as well). He was excited because he needed a violinist, so I didn't tell him that second part.

So I show up to rehearsal that night and the whole band is there, plus a scattering of string players. There was one of each instrument, and I was the second violin player. The other violinist (some dude about my age) was pissed that Sexy Bassist (who was in charge of organizing the orchestra) made him play 2nd violin, and I only got 1st because I was friends with him. I started to panic because maybe this dude is better than me and I'm about to make a fool out of myself! Then Sexy Bassist comes up and gives me the music, and he's playing a string bass instead of bass guitar, which I found to be endlessly adorable. We start rehearsing, and for some reason I think it's the real show even though no one is there and I start to panic (again) because I've never seen the music before. (I actually have that dream quite a bit, where I'm supposed to play my violin for something important and I get there and have never seen the music before...wonder what THAT means?)

I don't remember much else, except that I ended up being the only string player who could adequately sight-read and everyone else got fired. I remember being excited about the real show because me and Sexy Bassist would be the only remaining orchestra members, which meant a DUET. Hopefully we would have hooked up after the show, but that's just a guess. XDD

Yeah. WEIRD. I think most of it stems from watching CoT's "tour webisodes" on youtube, lol. They're so cool and funny! Here, I'll show you:

YO DUDES. So Lark Fest is tomorrow, which for those of you not from Albany NY is a huuuuge day-long outdoor music festival with a millions billions (like, 3 or 4, lol) stages, food vendors, that sort of thing, and even though it's advertised as a "family" event, everyone in Albany gets effin waaaasted. You can't drive anywhere at all in the general Lark Street area all day. It is amazing. Anywho, the headliner this year is Moby, who I don't really know, but whatevs. The good part is that Company of Thieves, my newest musical obsession, will also be there! Along with some other cool bands like Bell X1 and Matt & Kim.

It's sponsored by EQX, the only radio station I ever listen to. So on their website there are 2 Lark Fest related contests you could enter. One is for an after party at one of the Lark Street bars, where you can party with the EQX crew (all the dj's are really awesome), and the other is to go to their broadcast studio (at another Lark Street pub) during the day and hang out with the crew and perhaps the performers. thurs night tv round up

Some brief thoughts on tonight's Fall comedies. Man, I've missed tv. :P BTW there's spoilers. XD

Oh course The Office was pretty much exactly what I expected, lol. As soon as Michael started with all the rumors, I knew "Pam's pregnant" was going to be one, and they'd somehow have to tell everyone. I didn't really mind the predictability though, because maybe I've just watched the show too many times, lol. It was very funny, especially Andy's "am I gay" thing. XDDD And Jim putting up the baby's ultrasound at his desk was soo cute, I may have squee'd a bit. OH YEAH, and the BEGINNING, omg. Dwight, Michael, and Andy jumping around the office was one of the most hilarious things I've ever seen. XDD I have high hopes for this season, I can't wait to see more.

After The Office I watched that new show Community becuase it's right after and I needed to kill a half-hour before Sunny. I had heard good things about this show, especially Chevy Chase. I must say, I was very underwhelmed with this pilot. The characters were flat and cliche, and the plot kind of went nowhere. And I was not impressed with whoever the main actor and actress are. The only good parts were John Oliver's small role (he killed me every time he opened his mouth, because even in a bad show he's just that good, lol), and the character Abed who I thought was Maulik Pancholy from Weeds at first, only less cute. He was very funny and likable, I hope I see him in a better show sometime. :P Also, once 30 Rock comes back, it'll probably take this show's place and my Thursday night lineup will be complete, lol.

Then Always Sunny in Philadelphia was brilliant as always. I love seeing a comedy that doesn't lose it's spark over the seasons. So far so good for Sunny, it is still just as wacky and raunchy and hilarious as season 1 (maybe even more so, since Danny DeVito wasn't in season 1). Denis and Mac's "Honey and Vinegar" thing slaaaayed me, omg. Then when they posed as a "rich gay couple" to "up the bidding price on Dee's uterus"? I think I laughed harder at that than I did all night.

AND THEN, I "found" a surprise little gem. After Sunny FX showed a sneak peek at a new show that'll premiere in a few months I think. It's an animated show called Archer, and apparently it's by the same dudes who did Frisky Dingo and Sealab 2021, both excellent shows. I wished it was premiering for reals, because I LOVED it and would watch it every week. Check out this mini review plus 2 minute clip. Up until the first commercial break, Pat was like "it's ok, but I think it's just being vulgar for vulgar's sake" and I was like "OMG I LOVE THIS SHOW!" XDD But he came around at the end, becuase it turned out to be funny besides just the vulgarity, lol. ALSO, check out that voice cast! Jessica Walter, aka Lucille Bluth from Arrested Development plays Archer's mother and head of the spy company. She was amazing, of course. It kinda looks like her too, lol.

So yes, a very promising First Thursday of Fall Shows! And next week is the 2-hour Heroes season premiere! I can't wait for this season, becuase of where they left it, I've been dyyying to know how it all turns out. And of course, the return of my weekly gushing about Zachary Quinto will commence!

Off to read the new Dan Brown some more before bed. G'night, flist!

WATCH THESE TRAILERS FOR THE NEW BATMAN: ARKHAM ASYLUM VIDEO GAME. I THINK I JIZZED IN MY PANTS A LITTLE.

ASAJHSADSHAGSA JOKERGASM. SERIOUSLY YOU GUYS. SERIOUSLY. We (gamers and Batfans everywhere) need a good Batman game, it's about time. I mean, I love Lego Batman as much as the next fangirl, but it's a little too easy for the gamer in me. This game is going to ROCK.

HOW CUTE IS SHE IN THIS, OMG. I want to be her for Halloween, that outfit is bitchin. :P I love that she has the same voice as she did in the cartoon Batman (just like Joker!), I think that's a nice geeky touch. AHHH she is so awesome!

XDDD Ok ok, I need to breathe over here. I am like...FREAKING OUT. I knew the game would be cool, but...but...OMG. His VOICE and his CLOTHES and his LAUGH. IT IS ALL SO PERFECT.

I like that he seems to be a mix of cartoon-Joker and Heath-Joker. He looks more like cartoon-Joker (Heath is not that skinny) and they gave him the silly gadgets and stuff, but they made him grittier, or something. He has that dark edge to him that Heath gave him in TDK. And they added the scars to the old look! I guess that may have been just makeup, but cartoon-Joker def didn't have them!

I seriously need to calm down over here, I am like, bouncing up and down. XDD I am such a hopeless fangirl. In all reality, I'll probably end up getting the game for the Xbox 360, since we (meaning: the boy) already has one. The PS3 is the only system we don't have (OF COURSE). And they're still pretty expensive, I dunno if I can get one for just this one game, lol. Who knows, maybe the Joker will become a downloadable player or something?? Or maybe I can find a used PS3 on the cheap. We'll see. Because I want to play as him sooo bad. Oh, the things I could make him do!

book and tv babble

So I've been having some Deep Thoughts about books and tv, in general, and Dexter and True Blood specifically. Not sure who watches either show, let alone reads the books (omg so much work, lol), so I'll cut them each so you can avoid spoilers. I'll try not to give away anything that hasn't happened yet on tv, but since reading the TB books it's like I Know All, lol.

I know a lot of people are into this show, so hopefully someone here knows what I'm talking about and/or can shed some light on the past season (I don't have HBO and haven't watched them all online yet...but I shall rant anyway, lol). So as you may or may not know, the season 2 finale was last night. I love how everyone is all over facebook going "omggg what a cliffhanger, what's going to happen to Billlll my one true love???" and I can hardly control the urge to tell people I barely know to read the damn books if they want to know so badly. Seriously, the books are all rather short, the writing isn't exactly Shakespeare, lol. You can read the 3rd book in a week and know what happens to Dear Beloved Bill, so quit complaining, lol. Also it is so hard not to tell them all what happens, because I KNOOOW SO MUCH, lol.

Ok, now that THAT'S out of my system (I am a bit harsh on non-book fans) I can talk seriously about the show. True Blood is a guilty pleasure of mine. It's certainly not the best show on tv, but it's fun to watch and that's what's important. I bought the first season even though I had watched it all online. It is addicting. But I got a few episodes into season 2 and stopped watching, because the storylines this time were kinda "meh" and it deviated so far from the books. Season 1 obviously added some things that weren't in the book, because like I said, the books are mad small, you kinda have to add something to beef up a season. I had no interest in the Maryann plot, it made no sense at all and was taking up too much time getting to the real plot (Bill and Sookie in Dallas doing Eric's detective work). Jason's little stint in Bible Camp was kinda dumb too, but it was slightly more interesting seeing as it was the Fellowship of the Sun. I was a little interested to see where that panned out, but not enough to keep watching diligently. So I fell behind, and now the season is over, and from what I hear of the season finale I would have been disappointed anyway. I do want to watch the episodes with Godric, because that was very emotional and cool in the book, and I heard it was the same on the show.

I'm sure I will eventually watch the rest of season 2 (might not buy the dvds though), and I am holding out hope for season 3. Of the books that have been made into seasons so far, 3 was my favorite. A lot of cool new characters, for one. I won't give anything away with the plot. The sad thing about this series is that there are so many books, and the ones near the end are really cool and the characters change so much, but the series will most likely not be 8+ seasons long, so the strictly-tv fans will never know the awesomeness. As far as the books go, I def recommend them to fans of the show, but be warned that a few books are hit-or-miss. There are 9 books out right now, I've read the first 8. My favorite so far was book 7, it was the most original and most compelling, and we learn some seriously huge things about some characters that will forever change how you see them...and it sucks because I'd like to see that on screen and probably never will (unless they do some skipping around). But the book after that, which I just finished, was kind of...horrible. The worst one yet. It makes me not even want to buy the next one (I wasn't going to even if I was blown away by this one until it came out on paperback, anyway). I am seriously losing all interest in Sookie. I feel like the books that have sucked (there are a few in the series) would be so much better if she just wrote a longer book for once. I think at this point her editor just lets her do whatever she feels like becuase the books have become so popular. Anywho, if anyone would like to convince me that All Is Not Lost On Sookie, please do so. I used to like her so much. And then I discovered Anita Blake, and if I can only have one vampire series in my life at a time, I would pick Anita hands down. So yeah, that's about it. XD

Dexter is another story entirely. I've only just finished the first Dexter book and have no complaints. You should read it even if you don't watch the show, it was an amazing book. Darkly Dreaming Dexter, by Jeff Lindsay. Anyway, this is strictly about the show. Spoilers for season 3.

Dexter is without doubt one of the best shows on tv. I was hooked from the pilot episode of season one, and it has never disappointed me. Season 3 just came out on dvd and I watched it all the way through with my mom in a few weeks...I would have watched it much quicker if I didn't wait for her to be available, lol. Anywho, season 3 felt a little different from the other seasons, which may just be a slow progression of Dexter as a character. In season 1, there was a lot of killing, and a lot of revelations. Season 2 was more soul-searching and covering his tracks, but very exciting and edge-of-your-seat, since the killer the police are hunting this time is him. Season 3 is much more about emotions and relationships, which is weird considering Dex claims he has no feelings. I liked the surprises they threw in, Rita's pregnency and Dex's proposal, and Miguel's storyline was very interesting. This season seemed to drag a little in the middle (too much about planning the wedding, I think), but the end was quite satisfying. I liked Dex taking down the Skinner, his epiphany about actually wanting to be a father to his unborn son, Deb getting her Detective shield and getting together with Anton. It all wrapped up nicely. But for some reason it didn't have that edge that season 1 Dex had.

So the night after watching the season 3 finale, I went online to see when season 4 was starting (even though I don't have Showtime, I was just curious). Turns out the season 4 premiere has been leaked online, and that very night I watched the whole thing. It. Was. AMAZING. Even though so much has changed, this one episode felt more like season 1 Dexter than any of the past 2 seasons. Not that I was at all disappointed in season 2 and 3, I quite liked them, but not as much as season 1. Check out the trailer for the premiere, and you'll see what I mean:

IT IS SO HARD TO CONTAIN MYSELF HERE. I will stick to what you see in the trailer and try my hardest not to give away the episode (I found it on youtube easily enough, if you're interested). The baby interfering with Dex's life is kind of hilarious to me. He's too exhausted to fight the bad guys now! For some reason I love that. I can't wait to see how Dex pulls off his little hobby now that he and Rita live together. Also, Lundy is back, which is great. I loved him. And I think the introduction of a kickass new serial killer is exactly what the show needed. The Skinner in season 3 was kind of lack-luster for me, not nearly as good as the Ice Truck Killer and the Bay Harbor Butcher (lol Dex). The Trinity Killer is going to be great fun. Also he's played by John Lithgow, how awesome is that?? I can't wait to see how it all plays out, and I'm curious as to how Dexter will be involved with the Trinity Killer. I think this season has all the right elements, and will be just knock-out amazing. Will definitely be downloading the episodes as they're released, because I seriously can't wait a year for the dvds.

And I know what you'll say, "You just complained about the True Blood fans not reading the books, you hypocrite!" Oh ye of little faith. The first Dexter book was pretty much a condensed version of season 1 (same plot, but less happened...it's a small book), but the ending happened so differently that I know the next books will be different from the show. And I read the captions on the next few books on Amazon, and the plots are definitely different from seasons 2 and 3 as far as I can tell. It looks like they followed season 1 almost to the letter, then used the show to tell a different Dexter story from the books. I'll be getting the other books soon (I loved his writing style, I couldn't put it down even though I knew what happened lol), so I'll let you know if my guess on this case is correct. :P

Anyhoo...I'm not sure what to read next. I just got the next 2 Joe Pitt books in the mail from Amazon, and I was going to dive into those next. BUT The Lost Symbol (the new Dan Brown book, starring one of my literary loves Robert Langdon) comes out tomorrow and I have a 40% coupon to use for it. I know I won't be able to resist not reading it once I have it in my possession, lol. Good thing I finished Dexter tonight, perfect timing (I read that book in less than a week, yo!). I might pick up the next Dexter book while I'm at Borders tomorrow.

As for tv... I'll be keeping up with Dear Deranged Dex as they air (on the intarwebs, unless I can find a friend and fellow fan who will invite me over every week, lol), but besides that Heroes comes back September 21, and The Office and Always Sunny in Philadelphia come back the 17th. I've really missed having shows to actually watch weekly...I've been watching so many dvds, I've almost forgotten that feeling, lol. So prepare yourself now for Petrellicest Squeeage of Massive Proportions, as well as weekly coverage of Zachary Quinto's hottness.

OK seriously, this post is way too long...and most of you probably don't watch either of these shows...oh well. :P
